A Patient Participation Group (PPG) is generally used to describe a patient group based in a GP practice. It is led by patients but run in partnership with the GP practice to:
Each PPG is unique. It makes decisions on its own structure, priorities and work programme. As it acts as a bridge between patients and the GP practice, it is important that each PPG has a broad base of patient involvement and views. We try to make our PPG as representative of our practice population as possible, and encourage all patients to get involved.
The PPG work at The Corner Surgery so far includes running a health and wellbeing event, a self care event, basic English lessons for Spanish and Portuguese patients on areas to do with communicating within a GP practice, i.e. “can I book an appointment with a doctor”. Conducting a small awareness campaign to check whether patients were aware of specific NHS screening/Health checks, within their age group and identify possible barriers where patients may not attend these. We have also conducted several surveys to identify any improvements the practice can make on various areas, e.g. how easy it is to get an appointment, what you think about our opening times and what you think about the quality of care you received. There are many other events or projects that can be done and we are here to get going and do them with you! So join up and let’s start doing them!
If you would like to join please email email@example.com or phone our reception team on 020 7274 4507. If you would like to raise something or have an idea for an initiative just get in touch! Please note this is not a space for personal medical complaints.
The Lambeth Governing Body meets formally in public every two month. Anybody who would like to is welcome to come along to the meeting and attend as an observer.
In addition to this, an open meeting for stakeholder groups and members of the public takes place an hour before each governing body meeting. This informal session is an opportunity for members of the public and stakeholder groups to ask questions or raise any issue in relation to the agenda or any other matter.
If you would like to come along, there is no need to register, please turn up on the day.
